Description

The Type 4 speaker cable model was initially introduced around 1983. It may not have been the most aesthetically pleasing cable, but the performance advantage of its polypropylene insulation was spectacular and highly appreciated. Several evolutionary steps later, the current version of Type 4 was introduced in 1995—a design with a foundation so well balanced that it hasn’t changed since then and is still not changing.

The Type 9+DBS Low-Distortion & Low-Noise speaker cable is essentially a Type 4 with higher-quality metal, additional layers, and noise-dissipation techniques for more effective noise control, along with AQ’s patented Dielectric-Bias System (DBS).

Furthermore, the conductors of the Type 9+DBS are slightly larger than those of the previous 4-series cables. The conductors are spaced a bit farther apart, reducing interactions between adjacent conductors by 35%.

HIGH PURITY CONDUCTORS – SOLID PERFECT-SURFACE COPPER+ (PSC+) Solid Perfect-Surface Copper+ (PSC+) conductors prevent strand interaction, a significant source of ear-fatiguing transient intermodulation distortion. The remarkably smooth and pure Perfect-Surface Copper+ eliminates harshness and significantly enhances clarity compared to OFHC, OCC, 8N, and other premium coppers. The higher purity of PSC+ further minimizes distortion caused by grain boundaries, which exist in any metal conductor.

SOLID CONDUCTORS Eliminate harshness and confusion resulting from strand interaction.

72V DIELECTRIC-BIAS SYSTEM (DBS) Insulation also serves as a dielectric that can act as a shunt filter. Biasing minimizes dielectric noise and linearizes the filter, significantly improving wide-bandwidth dissipation of induced RF noise.

MULTI-LAYER CARBON-BASED NOISE DISSIPATION Multi-layer carbon-based noise-dissipation, combined with direction-controlled conductors and shielding, substantially reduces the noise floor and diminishes amplifier Transient-Intermodulation Distortion (TIM).

STAR-QUAD GEOMETRY Balanced Star-Quad Geometry minimizes time-smearing while preserving dynamics and clarity.
