Description

Forest HDMI cable encompasses all the fundamental principles of cable design by AudioQuest. It features solid conductors plated with 0.5% silver, robust high-density polyethylene insulation, and meticulous signal geometry. Particular emphasis has been placed on optimizing HDMI performance, and as a result, AudioQuest’s HDMI cables elevate audio quality to unprecedented heights.48Gbps Bandwidth

4K/8K AudioQuest’s 18Gbps High Speed HDMI cables are equipped to handle video resolutions up to 8K/30 (8-bit, 4:2:0), which translates to an impressive 7680 x 4320 resolution with over 33 million pixels at a maximum frame rate of 30 frames per second. These cables are well-suited for the common frame rates of 24 and 30 fps found in most movies and many TV shows.

18Gbps Bandwidth Every AudioQuest 18Gbps High Speed HDMI cable is guaranteed to provide the necessary 18Gbps bandwidth essential for supporting advanced features like 8K/30 video, High Dynamic Range (HDR) imaging, and enhanced Audio Return Channel (eARC).

eARC Previous HDMI hardware was limited to delivering lossy (compressed) 5.1-channel surround sound through the Audio Return Channel (ARC). All generations of AudioQuest HDMI cables with Ethernet support ARC. To ensure superior audio performance, the conductor-pair dedicated to ARC is controlled for direction, running opposite to the four pairs carrying information to the TV. The latest HDMI 2.1 hardware introduces Enhanced Audio Return Channel (eARC), significantly increasing bandwidth to accommodate uncompressed and lossless high-resolution multichannel audio, including formats like Dolby TrueHD, Atmos, DTS-HD Master Audio, and DTS: X.

HDR AudioQuest’s 18Gbps High Speed HDMI cables are compatible with High Dynamic Range (HDR) and Dynamic HDR. HDR content enhances contrast, offering deeper blacks and brighter whites and highlights, along with richer color saturation and brightness. Dynamic HDR, exemplified by formats like HDR 10+ and Dolby Vision, allows frame-by-frame HDR optimization, departing from fixed HDR settings applied to the entire program.

SOLID 0.5% SILVER CONDUCTORS Solid conductors serve to minimize adverse effects resulting from electrical and magnetic interaction between strands. In the realm of digital cables, where signals operate at high frequencies primarily on the surface of conductors, AudioQuest enhances its Long-Grain Copper (LGC) conductors with increasingly thicker layers of silver plating. Placing the superior metal on the outer surface of the conductor significantly improves Noise-Dissipation, contributing to an economically efficient strategy for optimizing digital cable performance.

HARD-CELL FOAM INSULATION Hard-Cell Foam (HCF) Insulation is instrumental in preserving the precise geometry of signal pairs. Any solid material in close proximity to a conductor is part of an imperfect circuit, as wire insulation and circuit board materials tend to absorb and release energy, resulting in distortion. Hard-Cell Foam Insulation, similar to the Foamed-PE in more affordable Bridges & Falls cables, contains nitrogen-injected air pockets. Since nitrogen does not absorb energy, distortion is mitigated. The stiffness of this material helps maintain consistent conductor alignment over the cable’s length, ensuring stable impedance characteristics and minimizing distortion.

HDMI ACTIVE AudioQuest’s Pearl, Forest, and Cinnamon HDMI cables feature Active Frequency-Equalization, enabling them to deliver full 18Gbps/4K UltraHD performance across distances ranging from 10 to 15 meters.

DIRECTIONALITY-HDMI All audio cables exhibit directionality, determined through listening assessments of metal conductors used in each batch of AudioQuest audio cables. Direction control is applied to all signal conductors in AudioQuest HDMI cables, ensuring the highest performance. Moreover, the conductors used for the Audio Return Channel run in the opposite direction to guarantee optimal performance for that specific application. Connectors are clearly labeled with arrows to maintain superior sound quality.

HIGH SPEED DATA CAPACITY HDMI standards and capabilities have evolved since DVI transitioned into HDMI. Each generation remains backward compatible. Nevertheless, not all earlier HDMI cables can transmit the full 18Gbps of data required to optimize modern HDMI 2.0 equipment. Although there is presently no 4K/60 4:4:4 software demanding the complete 18Gbps capacity of HDMI, some sources (such as UHD Blu-ray players) can be set to “up-sample,” necessitating 18Gbps capability. AudioQuest HDMI cables labeled as “Exceeds 18 Gbps” on the packaging are guaranteed to surpass the requirements for all potential HDMI data streams.
