The STEREO 70s marked the beginning of this journey; the next step was the MODEL M1, our first multi-zone-friendly amplifier.

Differentiated Distribution
The MODEL M4 is a rack-mountable distribution amplifier designed to reach discerning customers and increase growth opportunities. It has been carefully engineered to offer exceptional sound from a wide range of streaming music services and can also accept locally connected music sources and TV sound. A single MODEL M4 can deliver outstanding Marantz sound throughout your home or even outside if you install outdoor speakers.
The MODEL M4 offers an innovative and intelligent approach to traditional distribution amplifier designs. Everything needed to enjoy excellent sound, including support for wireless streaming via HEOS, AirPlay2, Spotify Connect, TIDAL (including Hi-Res), and more, is included. Just add a network cable and the speakers of your choice to suit your needs and available space. With its ample output power and extensive pre-out support, the MODEL M4 has you covered: it can even handle 2.1 speaker configurations in each room, if that’s your preference.
High-Quality Sound Everywhere
Based on the HEOS platform, the MODEL M4 benefits from all the capabilities available on the service, including upcoming updates to include TIDAL Hi-Fi Plus and Roon Ready support for NAS-served high-resolution audio. This means extensive wireless and wired music streaming support for almost any content you may wish to access, and from almost any device.
For almost all potential buyers of the MODEL M4, there’s no need to plug in external audio sources or manage additional user interfaces to enjoy great sound. Four built-in HEOS modules mean independent listening in four separate rooms of your home. Alternatively, you can group zones to share your favorite music simultaneously in every space. Of course, integrating HEOS into the MODEL M4 means it can be controlled from the HEOS app, making setup and day-to-day operation extremely simple.
If you want to connect local music sources, the MODEL M4 offers plenty of options. Four USB-A inputs support four individual USB hard drives, one per zone. Additionally, four sets of RCA analog outputs allow for connection of four analog source devices, one per zone.
You can even connect your TV. Twin optical digital inputs support up to two TVs in your system, one per zone, supported by onboard Dolby Digital decoding to ensure optimal stereo sound quality from connected TV sources. TV Sound Grouping means you can share TV audio from one zone across your whole home if you wish. Ideal for the big game!
Fully Functional and Flexible
Built in Shirakawa, Japan, the industrial design of the MODEL M4 closely complements the latest generation of Marantz hi-fi and AVR products. However, it has also been carefully specified and engineered to deliver extreme robustness, simple control functionality, and flexible configuration essential to successful home integration.
A 2U-height 19-inch rack-mount design, the MODEL M4 features active thermally triggered fan cooling to support stable closed-rack operation. Its network connectivity relies on twin robust Ethernet connections: one for connection to a local network and one for passthrough to additional daisy-chained devices. Rack-mount ears are included in the box for easy rack installation, if required.
As a HEOS-enabled device, the MODEL M4 can share music with existing Marantz hi-fi or AVR components, with more MODEL M4s, or with the new MODEL M1. This flexibility offers the installer or user dozens of options for specifying and configuring the ultimate Marantz whole-home music distribution system. Multiple MODEL M4s can be paired together to support up to 64 rooms, enough for even the most complex installations and extensive homes.
If desired, the MODEL M4 can also be controlled from integrator-friendly control platforms, such as Crestron and Control4.
Power Where You Need It
The MODEL M4 has more than enough onboard power to drive even demanding speakers across four separate output zones (8 x 100W with 0.05% THD). If you require more output, for example, in a zone with very large speakers, the four stereo power zones can be put into Bridge Mode to deliver even more output, with up to 4 x 200W available. Importantly, the output power of the MODEL M4 is realistic and rated with all channels driven simultaneously.
If even this impressive power output is not sufficient, the MODEL M4 can be paired with offboard power amplifiers in each of its four zones. Alternatively, those same pre-out sockets can be paired with active subwoofers in each zone if desired.
